Guided by the owl

Today, let us uncover what the owl as a totem animal can teach us and show us. It is an animal that has always fascinated me and played an important role in my spiritual journey.  In so many ways, the owl reminds me of cats, not only because they eat mice. When raised in captivity they are quite affectionate towards their handlers and caregivers. Their neck can rotate up to 270 degrees due to a blood pool at the base of their necks. They are great hunters and it is not uncommon for bigger owl species to hunt smaller ones. They are tough predators. I also learnt that barn owls hiss, like cats. Through the ages owls were associated to knowledge. They symbolised it. These amazing creatures have unimaginable sight and the first clue for absolute knowlegde is observation. Seeing and noting the smallest occurence. These birds are tied to wisdom, intuition and the occult, that is hidden knowledge. Their accurate vision can symbolise the human concept of a 6th sense. They are nocturn...

Roman 8 28

Growing up christian and now having deconstructed my whole belief system is quite ironic. I have so many painful memories tied to the latter, yet I still remember how it brought me comfort. Roman 8.28 goes as follows: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Today I was urged to rest and trust. Somehow, all the overthinkers and worriers out there, we should seriously learn to trust and relax. I am including myself. Now as someone who does not subscribe to the patriarchal and christian idea of a god but still believe in the might of the divine, let me redefine all of this. God, source, the divine acts for the welfare of those who love "him". Who is "him". Listen to my girl math really quick. We are all interconnected. Loving god means loving and working for the greater good of all. Fulfilling one's purpose and aiming to serve the collective, in accordance to divine pla...

Faith

Generally speaking, faith is associated to divinity and religion. We can also add faith in ourselves and  in the world, in the future and in the people that surround you.  Let's talk about the concept of having faith in humanity. Mahatma Gandhi said, "You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty." Guess he was right about this one. We are all capable of good or evil, depending on what we choose. We are all, whether we want it or not, of a dual nature, bearers of light and darkness. Creation and destruction are both possible to us.  For many of us, faith in a higher power revolves around organised religion. And unfortunately for some, this religion is tied to dark and traumatic memories. The concept of "religious trauma" is widly known and understood though not accepted by all. Many of us had to learn how to detach faith and prayer from people, social hierachies and doctrines.  ...

Inner beauty

I would like to axe this post in the line of beauty standing for peace. Inner beauty can be the same as inner peace. Do not get me wrong when I talk about peace. I do not mean someone who is reserved or talks less. I am referencing the aura of calmness and confidence that envelops someone who is truly at peace with themselves, with life and with the world around them. An extrovert and a bubbly person can still exude inner peace. Let us not propagate hurtful stereotypes. Sometimes anxiety can be a silent killer. You only see its mark when staring straight into the soul of the person, through their eyes., its rampage being sinious,  slow and undetectable to the untrained eye. Inner peace's greatest and most lethal enemy is in fact control. Control breeds and continually feeds anxiety. Trying to control every outcome and anticipate every painful and devastating life occurence may or may not throw at you is not only fatal to your nervous system but also intensely draining. After ...

The future

Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly.   - Langston Hughes  Holding on to the past is easier. It is like holding onto what is known. But holding onto our dreams, onto the future requires faith and imagination. Despite all the initiatory obstacles sent my way by the cosmos, my intense devotion to my dreams kept me going. When I was literally a caged angry little birdy, my dreams kept me alive. I could not accept and integrate that all this would be my life. I knew  I deserved better and I was at a hundred percent prepared to sweat and bleed for it. Even though death seemed soothing to me in the past circumstances, I refused to let my dreams die.  When talking and mostly listening to elder folks, I came to the realization that holding onto a slither of hope can add up both health and longevity to an individual's life. The next dinner with the grandkids can be a motivation to some or attending the graduation of a...

"Michael" 1996

Today I shall bless you all with a movie review since I like to yap on various topics. A movie is perfect. I do strongly believe that John Travolta is an amazing actor with a lot of range. From "Grease" 1978 to Pulp Fiction" 1994. He sure has range. I also liked his performance in " Hairspray" 2007. "Michael" is a movie about the archangel himself whilst on earth. As a fan of the occult, I could not be more pleased. Two writers from a newspaper travel to a deserted piece of America after receiving some fan mail regarding the prescence of an angel on earth. A dog trainer parading as an expert tags along those two. Throughout the production the idea of a "journey" is heavily highlighted. The viewer sees the growth of all the protagonists. Ironically the angel seems more human than the humans who always hold tight to a facade, a strong illusion instead of accepting their true selves.  The movie also defies the idea of perfection in angels or h...

The universe's help

When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.   - Paulo Coelho  What is so special about being in alignment you ask? From my personal experience being in alignment feels like an ongoing miracle. Everything is about frequency. We hear that a lot nowadays. One is probed to watch his or her own thoughts and raise the frequency. Be high vibe they say.  Your thoughts, your words and your actions should match one another to attain a form of symbiose.  Whether you believe in God or the universe, receiving a little bit of divine help is always welcome. It feels like a warm hug. Or like when you are a kid be8ng on stage and you see your family sitting in the crowd cheering you. The universe or God is all the family some people can count on and the universe sure does cheer you loudly!  Keep your thoughts aligned and your eyes on the price.  JH

Authenticity

"Be and not seem." - Ralph Waldo Emerson  Most people that know me, know that I am always blabering about authenticity. But I also believe in "fake it until you make it."  There is a difference between being nice and seeming nice, seeming friendly and being friendly. An otter looks cute but remains an apex predator. The majority of people I met were really bad liars and more than awful manifestors, yes I am being judgy here. Most people do not hesitate to resort to lies yet they cannot sustain it. The truth always comes back to bite their stinky behinds.  Maintaining an illusion demands the training, the management that would be needed to attend to an ambulant circus. It is a lot of work. The better strategy is projecting who it is you want to be into the future then catch up to that little prediction. It is like going window shopping for that pair of boots before you got your paycheck. Why does it work you ask? Because you already sold your time to X or Y company ...

Preying

"The search for a scapegoat is the easiest of all hunting expeditions." Dwight D. Eisenhower I like to place the words "prey" and "pray" side by side for comparison and emphasis. The hunter preys and the scapegoat prays.  Preying always seemed easy for me from my perspective from the other end. It englobes a lack of empathy and a desire for harmful destruction and domination. Power drives preying. Humans prey upon humans and some call it socializing, others call it love. It all depends on who is asking. There are violent and quick hunters and then there are slow and vicious ones. In both cases the damage is consequential. On the other end one observes the wan scapegoat. Extenuated and drained from the constant hypervigilance. Being and feeling vulnerable is a lifestyle. It takes up all your life force and forces you to move accordingly to the hunters will despite your dreams and ambitions. The prey is completely dehumanized and haunted. Survival is the pr...

Conquering ourselves

It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.   - Edmund Hillary  Hardwork and perseverance built character. It motivates us in regards to the development of resilience, focus and creativity. When one decides to learn a new skill or delve into a new project, we discover an unknown part of ourselves. In oneiromancy, which is the symbolic interpretation of dreams and omens, childbirth and pregnancy are often associated to giving birth to a new enterprises. Or in another case, the birth of a new idea that one has to cultivate and cater to. Childbirth is a laborious process but for most of us humans, gratifying. Women conquer the limits of their physical vessels for the ultimate act of love. Once the human brain is wired into a certain way, changing that is quite the challenge. But it is totally doable. In french we say " les vieilles habitudes ont la vie dure". But everytime we choose to conquer our old selves to come closer to our dreams, we are already succeeding...

Honesty

Still in the context of this full moon under the celestial influence of the scorpio, let us talk about honesty. Mostly self honesty. It is a period where one is called to shatter illusions. To look further than what is exposed and to use a sharp discernment.  At times, or most of the time, we become what others tell us we should be. In the long run, we forget about our dreams, our true sense of identity. This celestial event calls us to look within and find out who we really are. Were we stuck so long in certain roles that it became our whole identity or do we remain who we are at the core? Do we remember who we truly are or only what others expect us to be ? Are we afraid of disappointing others or disappointing ourselves? Are we really seeing our flaws or our strengths or do we hide behind different pretences? Are we really vulnerable with who we are? Or do we lie to ourselves. This post is not about morality, the right or the wrong or whether we should lie to others or not...

Present times

The full moon in scorpio is a time of deep reflection and inner searching. From my personal experience, the energy is quite intense. I could recitate many things about scorpio placements, its intensity, that it is a water sign and a fixed sign and it is associated with the planet pluto. What I will say simply is that  I am tired. Really tired and overwhelmed by all the changes and recalibrations constantly needed. It is quite normal one would argue.  As many of us out there, I am quite restless. Swimming for too long in deep waters or in the shadows can be very taunting and draining. Too much truth is a thing. I feel like the universe never wears gloves when it comes to the planet pluto and those under her influence. Illusions about others and the self are perpetually shattered and we are left with bare souls and sometimes bare wounds.  Sleep becomes an elaborate sacred ritual. Where the soul, the body and the mind come into harmony to cast spells unto either realit...

Humiliation

"Humiliation is poisonous. It's one of the deepest pains of being human." Pierce Brosnan We all make mistakes. Sometimes we learn from them and we get better. At times when others point them out to us we may feel humiliated.  What really is the feeling of humiliation? Is it a feeling or a ritual? From my personal experience, it is a ritual instilled by your family, mainly your primary caregivers. When they fuck up instead of owning it and making things right, they find every little opportunity to make you feel shitty.  A memory came back to me recently, the bitter taste of the tears of humiliation. Now I understand that deep pain that was haunting me and the one I was constantly running from. The taste of the tears from getting beaten by your parents because of your adult siblings even though you did nothing, the taste of the tears after your first break up. Yeah that specific taste.  Adults are always right even when they are wrong afterall. Saying sorry or changing is le...
