Roman 8 28

Growing up christian and now having deconstructed my whole belief system is quite ironic. I have so many painful memories tied to the latter, yet I still remember how it brought me comfort.

Roman 8.28 goes as follows: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

Today I was urged to rest and trust. Somehow, all the overthinkers and worriers out there, we should seriously learn to trust and relax. I am including myself. Now as someone who does not subscribe to the patriarchal and christian idea of a god but still believe in the might of the divine, let me redefine all of this. God, source, the divine acts for the welfare of those who love "him".

Who is "him". Listen to my girl math really quick. We are all interconnected. Loving god means loving and working for the greater good of all. Fulfilling one's purpose and aiming to serve the collective, in accordance to divine plan is serving the divine herself. Caring for the earth, for plants, animals and small children. That is my perspective at least.

The idea of serving a divine purpose is more solemn than most expect. It soothes the aching heart as it makes one always try to keep the eyes set on the bigger picture. When one thing does not work out, instead of freaking out, one can remain in the trust and care of the all knowing divine. When one feels lost. One can find its way through its purpose.
