Conquering ourselves

It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.

 - Edmund Hillary

Hardwork and perseverance built character. It motivates us in regards to the development of resilience, focus and creativity.

When one decides to learn a new skill or delve into a new project, we discover an unknown part of ourselves. In oneiromancy, which is the symbolic interpretation of dreams and omens, childbirth and pregnancy are often associated to giving birth to a new enterprises. Or in another case, the birth of a new idea that one has to cultivate and cater to. Childbirth is a laborious process but for most of us humans, gratifying. Women conquer the limits of their physical vessels for the ultimate act of love.

Once the human brain is wired into a certain way, changing that is quite the challenge. But it is totally doable. In french we say " les vieilles habitudes ont la vie dure". But everytime we choose to conquer our old selves to come closer to our dreams, we are already succeeding somehow. It is not only about whether you fail or win. At the end of the path, you are gaining something.
